While our colocation services include internet services for your server to connect to the internet and perform the tasks that most of our customers need it to require, some customers ask for us to setup direct connections between our data center and their office, so that they can communicate with the server while on a private network. This is typically done for regulatory reasons or for very specific business applications, but Vault Networks works with several ISPs to setup connections of this type, which are commonly Metro-E connections. Regardless of the type of connection you are looking to create, we can work with you to build out the solution.
The way these providers create their connection between the data center and your office is by leveraging the fiber that they have already built to build a private connection between point A and B, though of course if you have multiple branch offices a Hub-and-Spoke model is very possible, with the locations between being able to access each other by the requests provided to the ISP. In addition to communicating with the server in our data center, you will also be able to use this type of connection to communicate between offices on a private network.
When scoping out ISP providers, be sure to look at what they can provide you in addition to the connectivity. Not all providers are created equal in that some might need to build into your building, if they aren’t already there, which might impact the amount of time it takes to get service from your office to our data center. Also keep in mind the services that they offer in addition to upload and download speed. A good example is the ability to provide what is known as bursting – this allows you to increase bandwidth for set periods of time by reaching out to your provider. In the majority of cases this feature when offered is limited to 3 times your bandwidth capability, so a 100 Mbps line becomes a 300 Mbps line, and a 250 Mbps line would become a 750 Mbps line. This is a great customer benefit to be able to leverage for when the business needs it, such as when a new backup server is launched in the data center to assist in getting the data to the new machine.
What is great about the Vault Networks data center is that we have connectivity to some of the biggest names available in our data center, so you don’t have to worry about any delays on our side. We have the ability to setup the connections with Level3, AT&T, FPL, Atlantic Broadband, Comcast, and many more providers by connecting directly to them within the data center, as they all have a presence in our building. Because we have them in the building we have also built close relationships with these providers over the years, so we are able to get competitive pricing for connection in the data center, and even connections in your office. Just let us know the type of internet connectivity you are looking for, and we will work with you to build out the solution by reaching out to the ISPs for you.
Regardless of the desired ISP that you wish to setup a private line with, Vault Networks can provide a complete, one-stop solution by obtaining pricing for that provider in addition to the services that we provide every day for colocation, dedicated servers and vnCloud.
