Many of our customers use our dedicated servers, colocation services, and vnCloud to build on their existing business. But what if you are starting from ground zero? That is, what if you are interested in building a web-based business, but haven’t started your offering yet? Fortunately, Vault Networks is here to help you with some ideas for businesses that you can start by using our dedicated servers as a launching point.
- Provide Game Servers as a Service
We have actually had several gaming companies host their services in our data center in the past (a current example is Multiplay; you can read a bit more on our relationship here). In general, organizations host online games which can then be purchased by players so they can play with their friends in a private environment instead of playing with the internet as a whole. In other cases, the dedicated server is used to host a game that is open to the internet, provided that players pay somehow (monthly fees, ads, in-game stores, etc.) – this is more akin to the types of games that we host for Innogames, and you can read about that relationship here.
- Provide Web Hosting Services
Another offering that you can power on our infrastructure is to sell web hosting services. We have partnerships with CPanel and Odin which can be leveraged to procure their control panel solutions which are commonly used to manage web hosting sales. Using one of these control panels, your customers can very effectively design and create their webpages which you will be hosting on the server – and by allocating the resources on the server between the clients you can get quite a few of these clients on even one of our smaller servers!
- Build an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Cloud offering
If you want to try your hand at selling web servers, you can use a dedicated server to host a VMWare, Hyper-V or Xen-based IaaS cloud. This is a bit larger scale than the other options on this list, but you can certainly rent out one of our larger dedicated servers to power an IaaS cloud to resell to other organizations. In the long term a solution like this might make more sense in a colocation environment, as you will likely want and need a dedicated firewall, SAN solution, and more. That said, to test the waters or even for a smaller cloud offering you can certainly make use of our dedicated private servers.
- Offer internet-based phone services
Similar to the IaaS cloud, this one will require some expertise, but there is also certainly a market to resell the Voice over IP (VoiP) solution, and there are many open source programs that you can use to power the phone system (ViciBox, for example, is listed in our dedicated server offerings, but there are many others). Additional options can be added to add additional value to your VoiP offering, such as adding an additional server to act as storage for call recordings.
- Use WebRTC to build a Video Chat tool
We have discussed WebRTC in the past, and it can be resold to other customers as a chat platform or it can be used as a value-add when combined with a VoiP option. This is a great product for companies that offer business consulting services as well, as WebRTC chats can increase customer satisfaction and reduce churn when utilized properly.
These are just a handful of ways that a person who is interested in getting started with a web business can leverage our dedicated servers and other services. However, they are not the only ways – not by a long shot. We have a diverse spread of organizations that use our products for a variety of reasons, and we are happy to provide all of them a world-class internet service and support.
